Mornington Peninsula
James & Ali took me for a drive down to the Mornington Peninsula one afternoon in hopes of seeing a sunset, but it proved impossibly foggy on the peninsula, which is about an hour south of Melbourne and separates the Southern Ocean from Port Phillip Bay

01-SorrentoBeach A very foggy Sorrento Back Beach, on the Bass Strait (the portion of the Southern Ocean between Victoria and Tasmania) 02-SorrentoBeach Sorrento Back Beach 03-RockPools Some cool rock pools at Sorrento Back Beach that would be cool to swim or snorkel in 04-Sphinx The Sphinx rock formation ... if it weren't foggy, we would've been able to watch the sun set directly behind the Sphinx, bummer 05-Dunes Sand dunes at Sorrento Back Beach 06-ErodingSandstone Eroding sandstone cliffs at Sorrento Back Beach 07-Echidna Next to the car park at one of the beaches we went to next we saw this echidna, just sitting there happily chowing down on an ant colony 08-Echidna Echidna 09-Echidna Echidna ... he was so busy eating that he didn't even care that we were there, and he even let us touch his spines (which were quite sharp!) 10-Echidna-face How often do you get a photo of the face of an echidna?!
